Accessibility Information
At Clerkenwell & Social, we want all of our guests to enjoy their time with us comfortably and safely. Below you will find practical information regarding our venue’s physical layout, facilities, and event environment to help you plan your visit.
Arrival & Entrance
-
Street Access: We are located at St John’s Square. The immediate surrounding square features paved stone, which is relatively flat and step-free.
-
Main Entrance: Our main entrance door is manual and opens inward/outward.
-
Threshold: There is a small step / low threshold at the front entrance. Portable ramps or staff assistance can be provided upon request—please let us know ahead of time if you require step-free entry assistance.
Lifts & Steps
-
Multi-Level Layout: Clerkenwell & Social is set across two floors (Ground Floor Bar & First Floor / VIP Function Room).
-
Ground Floor: Fully navigable on a single level once inside.
-
First Floor Access: Access to the upper level and private hire rooms is via an internal staircase.
-
Lift Availability: Please note that internal lift access between floors is limited/restricted. If your booking or event is hosted on the upper floor and you have mobility requirements, please inform our events team in advance so we can ensure suitable seating on the ground floor.
Seating & Layout
-
Ground Floor Seating: Features a combination of high-top bar tables with stools and standard-height tables with loose chairs that can be easily moved to accommodate wheelchairs or mobility devices.
-
Space & Navigation: During peak hours and weekend events, walkways can become busy. Our host team is happy to help clear pathways or rearrange seating to make your space comfortable.
-
Reservations: When booking online or over the phone, please add a note if you require a low-level table or standard chair with back support.
Toilet Facilities
-
Ground Floor Facilities: Standard customer restrooms are available on the ground floor.

Event Sensory Information
-
Lighting: We maintain ambient, atmospheric lighting throughout the evening. Some areas may feature dim lighting or low-level decorative neon signage.
-
Sound & Music:
-
Daytimes / Early Evenings: Background music plays at low-to-moderate conversational levels.
-
Peak Hours & Late Nights: High-volume background music or live DJ sets take place on Friday and Saturday evenings.
-
-
Crowds & Noise: Friday evenings and weekend nights are our busiest periods. Guests looking for a quieter, low-sensory environment are advised to visit during weekday afternoons (Tuesday–Thursday, 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM).
-
Quiet Spaces: While we do not have a dedicated sensory quiet room, our staff will gladly assist in finding a calmer seating area or outdoor spot if you feel overwhelmed.
